Per Elof is a Swedish, Sámi artist based in Sweden. A third generation artist, he grew fond of drawing and painting from an early age, and eventually found it to be his calling. Today his exploration takes the form of dialogs based on his Sami heritage, history, and culture, as he searches for knowledge and inspiration from archeology, ancient and classical art.
Per Elof finds inspiration in his surroundings. He spends his time between civilization and the wilderness of northern of Sweden, a “living museum”. There Per Elof has understood how art has been translated and conveyed to the world throughout human history. He translates and crossbreeds this knoweldge in his own work, striving to create a symbiosis between life and art. Per Elof constantly looks for the contrasts in life, along with its balance and harmony. He seeks to express this tension, and believes nature is the key. Per Elof works in a creative space where he can explore and expand on his ideas about nature, philosophy, and poetry, process his many impressions of the world, and where the visitor is welcome to share his visions.
